Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) returns to Hogwarts School of Wizardry for his second year. After a confrontation with a house elf named Dobby, Harry escapes to the Weasley house with Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) in a flying car. They are then late for the train and have to ride it to school. When they get there, strange happenings invade the school. "Mudbloods" (people of Muggle families) are "petrified" by an evil monster lurking in the grounds. When every one suspects that it is him, the trio then set out to find the culprit and find out more than they bargained for: the diary of Tom Riddle, why Hagrid was expelled and what the Chamber of Secrets is and why is it so feared in Hogwarts.

No magic here. I found this movie utterly dull, except for Kenneth Branagh desparately trying to liven it up with comic relief. I honestly don't know what the 2hr 41 min running time was filled with, because it seemed only the last 40 minutes or so had anything to do with the actual Chamber in the title.

Great movie! I'm lovin it~ Has begun of curiousity and displeasure on the various things are comin to him and his schoolmates, Harry and his friends braveness and intellegence are very good to follow their adventure on the 2nd year of school ^^ Really enjoy it and as well as the novel :))

I think Rupert Grint easily outplayed Daniel Radcliffe in this one. His facial expressions were really to die for! I've re-watched it and I think I liked it more than the first film. I still think Rupert was fabulous. Not to mention Oliver and James Phelps. And I have a crush on Sean Biggerstaff and his accent :s Too bad he won't be in the next films. The most memorable parts were the spiders, the Whomping Willow, Gilderoy Lockhart, Fawkes the Phoenix, the opening of the Chamber of Secrets - it was phenomenally grand. All in all, I admire JKR so much for thinking it all through so thoroughly so that when you know where to look you can actually see how things are connected and why some character or things had to be introduced to the movies. Everything has its purpose.

"Harry Potter" loses some of it's magic. For being the "messiah" magician, Harry seems to lack any sort of magical powers that would come in handy in tight situations. I guess it's not surprising considering the incompetent professors at Hogwarts that can't seem to provide any assistance when conflict arises. "Chamber of Secrets" really suffers from the same plague that beleaguers the fantasy genre, that is, it makes up its own rules as it goes. This is a disappointing follow up to "Sorcerer's Stone", and I'm hoping that Harry cleans up his act in his next adventure.
